Lesson Title: Eco-Warriors: Project-Based Learning on Environmental Conservation

Grade Level: Grades 3-5

Subject Area: Science/Social Studies

Overview: In this lesson, students will become "Eco-Warriors" as they engage in project-based learning to address local environmental issues. They will research and develop projects such as creating recycling programs, designing awareness posters, or building birdhouses from recycled materials. This lesson promotes environmental stewardship, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving.

  • Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS):
    • 3-5-ETS1-1: Define a simple design problem reflecting a need or a want that includes specified criteria for success and constraints on materials, time, or cost.
    • 4-ESS3-1: Obtain and combine information to describe that energy and fuels are derived from natural resources and their uses affect the environment.
    • 5-ESS3-1: Obtain and combine information about ways individual communities use science ideas to protect the Earth’s resources and environment.
